is the Founder and Chair of the Board
of Children of Phoenix
She is also a Director on the foundation Board and has the portfolio for Scholarships and Chair’s the Scholarship Committee.
Professor Taylor’s academic work is focused on child abuse which she sees as a human rights and social justice issue. She is the author of several monographs, books and many peer reviewed journal articles and opinion pieces. She provides professional reports for sexual assault court proceedings and is often invited as a speaker at professional, public and community events.
She herself experienced long term childhood sexual and physical abuse with the perpetrator being convicted and sentence to prison. With no family and few resources she rebuilt her life from childhood poverty and little formal education to achieve high levels of education including First Class Honours and a PhD that won a prestigious national award to become a leading academic and social activist around children, abuse and human rights and law reform.
Children of Phoenix is not charity but change. The Foundation provides hope to children, adolescents and adults, whose lives and educational pathways have been affected by childhood sexual abuse, to achieve their educational goals and dreams. In doing so they take control of, and build a future for themselves fuelled by their own skills and determination.
